diving into the rigging of:

Responsible for rigging the 3D characters in the opener

about the studio homestead opener

Studio Homestead is a remote 2D and 3D animation production studio that aims to bring unique stories to life through its animation and create a collective where artists and clients alike feel they are at home.

The opener is the first project that was done for Studio Homestead. It represents how the studio will be introduced in future projects. During the film, I was responsible for rigging all of the 3D characters, tailoring the rigs to each animator’s needs for the opener.

character breakdowns

alien

The Alien was requested to have both FK and IK toe controls, which I added with the help of my rigging tools.

gnome

mantis

The mantis was my favorite to work with, since I’ve never rigged a character quite like this. I added

mouse

Mouse was probably the toughest one out of the four to rig. With its many limbs, I used Flint & Steel, my rigging tool, to create all the arms and legs, but finding a balance between it and the spine was a tough challenge.
